DTU Sustain offers a position as DTU Tenure Track Assistant professor for a civil engineer or material scientist to be part of our Section for Materials and Durability. The overall research focus for the position is on recycling of secondary raw materials in traditional and new construction materials.
DTU Sustain offers a position as DTU Tenure Track Assistant professor for a civil engineer or material scientist to be part of our Section for Materials and Durability. The overall research focus for the position is on recycling of secondary raw materials in traditional and new construction materials.

The section has a strong focus on circular construction. We are developing the necessary basic scientific foundation with offset in construction materials to enable the transformation from a linear to a circular economy in the construction sector. Applied research and innovation within reuse and recycling are important overall activities, and we continuously seek implementation for the new circular solutions through collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities and qualifications
You will join the faculty at one of the world’s leading university departments in environmental engineering. At DTU Sustain you work at the forefront of science providing solutions to major societal challenges related to climate change, sustainability, and environmental quality.

You will interact with students, academia, public authorities, consultants, and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad.

We expect that you have developed a strong Danish and international platform within one or more of the topics, preferable with material sciences and engineering background and experience.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Perform research at the highest international levels within recycling or secondary raw materials into construction materials.
  • Build up new advanced experimental approaches and methods for characterizing secondary raw materials and the properties of the construction materials in which they are incorporated.
  • Collaborate closely with the colleagues in the section and utilize the possibilities for a holistic approach by collaborating with colleagues at DTU Sustain and other DTU departments.
  • Develop new project ideas, write applications and lead projects as PI and participate in relevant projects lead by colleagues
  • Teach basic and advanced courses in construction materials.
  • Teach and supervise BSc and MSc student projects and co-supervisor for PhD students and post-doctoral fellows covering a broad range of topics within circular construction
  • Provide public sector consultancy and collaborate with industry as a natural part of the work

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages:
Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
