Position:
Key Account Manager
Base Location:
Ballerup, Denmark – Hybrid model.
Reporting to the CEO of Thales Denmark, the Key Account Manager will be responsible for all aspects of customers’ management within their defined perimeter. This position will primarily be responsible for Defence and Security markets in Denmark, but will also cover Ireland and Iceland as a customer baseline. This includes developing and maintaining customer relationships, understanding the customers’ procurement needs and connecting the customer with the appropriate Thales Business Line.

The Key Account Role at Thales
As a Key Account Manager at Thales you need to understand our market, the context, current business footprint and opportunities. You will be part of building and sharing our vision as well as setting and monitoring our objectives. You will prepare &
schedule the customer Key Account Plan and organize team meetings addressing order intake and revenue follow-up, ongoing opportunities coordination and action plans with clear accountability.
At Thales we have a high customer focus. The Key Account Manager will act as Thales group representative of accounts, capture and formulate specific customer insights, furthermore is it in this roles responsibilities to develop and foster cooperation across Thales entities and functions. An important part of the role is to establish and develop high level trust-based relationships with the key customers and to coordinate team efficiency and sales team involvement to ensure customer satisfaction. It is also in this positions responsibilities to mitigate the risks using appropriate lessons learnt from successes and failures.
Skills &
Experience required:

  • Analytical skills to identify growth opportunities in markets at an early stage.
  • Sound understanding of customer segment.
  • Strong communication skills, partner relationship skills, and team leadership skills.

Additional skills parameters:

  • Have a thorough understanding of the Defence &
    Security market in Denmark, including but not limited to, a clear understanding of the customers’ operational needs and their technical and commercial procurement processes.
  • Senior level international experience from a comparable position in similar business.
  • Experience from a public procurement agency, preferably defence related. Defence educational background of at Captain/Lieutenant Commander level, but preferably major/Commander level with Master in Military Science or equivalent.
  • Can interact with the customers’ community in a proactive, analytical and coherent manner in order to identify opportunities that Thales businesses can address. Aiming to become a trusted partner for each customer, in order to create an order intake pipeline.
  • Be able to develop customer loyalty through actions designed to foster long-term relations, including ensuring customer satisfaction by dealing with possible non-compliance and complaints.
  • Good knowledge of the Danish defence industry in order develop partnerships in support of the customer and the Thales Business Lines

Personal skills:

  • Must have a positive attitude i.E. high level of social skills, with an ability to quickly create strong relationships, at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Be solution-oriented with a broad understanding of military operational and technical areas and in running a business in general.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to present at exhibitions and conferences.
  • Must be of Danish Nationality and must be able to obtain a Danish/NATO SECRET security clearance from Danish Defence Intelligence Service (Proof of existing military clearance is accepted).
  • Must English qualifications of minimum C1 on the CEFR scale.

Travel:

  • This position demands an ability to travel, predominantly in Europe. It is unusual for travel to require full weekends being spent away.
  • Overall travel days per year will be approx. 60 – 80 days, though it will likely be a little higher the first year.
