Legal Counsel – Commercial Law Permanent Employment – Oslo/Copenhagen/Stockholm

Cognizant is looking for a creative and smart team player to join our Commercial Legal team in EMEA. This Legal Counsel – Commercial Law hybrid role is based in Copenhagen, Oslo or Stockholm and offers an attractive salary and benefits. As a Legal Counsel in the Commercial Legal team, you will be responsible for providing legal support in commercial transactions and other related matters in the Nordic region. You will be an integral part of the continued rapid growth of Cognizant’s European operations.

About the Team / Business Unit Cognizant’s European legal team consists of more than 60 lawyers in 13 countries across the EMEA region. A, and corporate compliance. You will be part of the Commercial legal team and work closely with the team supporting the Nordic region. About You While legal experience is essential to this role, you must come with a commercial mind set, and a taste and eagerness for technical innovation. Your experience in working on IT contracts, advising on GDPR and IP related issues must be accompanied by the ability to balance legal risks with commercial and operational needs of the business. You should be able to demonstrate strong, effective and impactful communication skills with people at all levels and backgrounds, being able to multitask with rapidly changing priorities in a dynamic working environment. You will be an integral part of the continued rapid growth of Cognizant’s European operations. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of business transactions, from consultancy contracts to multi-million-dollar complex technology (robotics, cloud, etc.) or business outsourcing deals. Your main focus will be on supporting business in the Nordic region, and you will be expected to regularly support other large markets in Continental Europe. The role will involve daily exposure to our clients and Cognizant senior management and, although this role will be part of the EMEA commercial legal team, you will work very closely with Cognizant’s legal, business and other teams around the world. Your Key Result Areas

· Provide legal advice on commercial legal matters in the Nordic region.

· Take a lead role in customer bids and negotiations.

· Manage internal and external lawyers supporting on matters.

· Monitor local legislation and assess its potential impact on Cognizant’s operations.

Required &
nice to have Skills
Must Haves:
1.) A law degree from a recognized institution and qualified to practice law in a Scandinavian jurisdiction, with a proven understanding of contract law and practice in civil law jurisdictions (in particular Scandinavian jurisdictions) 2.) Ability to combine sound legal advice with a commercial mindset 3.) Ability to review and analyze complex legal agreements, contracts, and documents with a high level of attention to detail and to negotiate and close complex deals with multiple stakeholders. 4.) Proficiency in English and at least one of the Scandinavian languages. Nice to Have/ Your chance to grow:
1.) Admission to the bar in one of the Scandinavian jurisdictions. 2.) Prior experience with project management, including managing multiple stakeholders on a strategic level 3.) Experience with industry template contracts, e.G. Norwegian SSA-agreements 4.) Ability to work in additional European languages is a benefit (primarily French or German)
