The Strategy &
Operations department is part of Global Research and Medical (GRM) and serves as an internal staff function collaborating across the organisation to plan, optimise, develop, and facilitate the research aspirations at Ferring.

The function, together with the research teams, is responsible for maintaining a pipeline overview and to ensure optimal decision-making tools and direction-setting for the early project portfolio. We are a tight-knit team which is characterised by an informal atmosphere with emphasis on team spirit and a fun and engaging working environment.

You will report to the Head of Strategy and Operations and will be working cross-functionally to support the early pipeline.

Your day at Ferring

  • Planning and delivery of early research project and portfolio analyses that support the direction-setting and decision making for the early pipeline at Ferring.

  • Drive cross-functional project operations and tasks including helping the research teams plan, coordinate and manage the projects and teams.

  • Management of cross-functional projects/initiatives/frameworks as well as support the head of strategy and operations in driving strategic portfolio initiatives.

  • Connecting with Global Project Teams (GPT), Finance, Commercial Planning and Portfolio Management Offices across Ferring and other cross-functional stakeholders to help structure portfolio activities, discussions, and cross functional alignment.

  • Partner with scientific project leaders and drug discovery functions to plan and track the cross-functional drug discovery projects.

  • In close liaison with project leaders, monitor project plans and functional activities including objectives, timelines, budget, resources and deliverables and maintain and update plans to accurately reflect project progress and status.

  • Support the project leaders and functional heads by identification of project bottlenecks and resource constraints.

  • Ensure project plans, resources, and timelines are correctly captured in in Ferring’s portfolio and project management system, Planisware.

  • Apply best practices and support standardization of planning data, deliverables, reports and metrics across the organization.

  • Collect and analyze drug discovery portfolio metrics data and prepare visualizations hereof to support efficient decision making by GRM management.

We are looking for a candidate that has a relevant life science education combined with experience from the pharmaceutical/academic industry.

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in chemistry, biology or related early drug discovery discipline with 5+ years’ experience in a planning capacity in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Good knowledge of the drug discovery process and interconnectivities across various functions from idea generation to NME declaration and successful transfer into clinical development.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, positive can-do attitude, and the ability to thrive in a highly interactive, multidisciplinary, international team environment.

  • Keen interest in the healthcare environment with a good understanding of the key commercial, clinical, regulatory and legal drivers impacting potential new drugs.

  • An ideal candidate will have a general understanding of drug development, and a technical and scientific understanding of cross-functional project execution. We are also looking for someone with strong strategic and analytical skills as well as a structured approach. You should be able to demonstrate through previous work your ability to drive projects and deliverables independently. Importantly, you have excellent stakeholder engagement skills along with ability to build trusting relationships while driving agendas.
