We are currently looking for a Senior Legal Counsel with a keen interest and experience in the legal matters encountered by life science companies. If you are ready to embrace a wide range of responsibilities with an independent mindset, we want to meet you.

Zealand Pharma is a Danish biotech company bonding to discover, design and develop innovative peptide-based medicines, with a purpose to change lives with next-generation peptide therapeutics.
You will join our legal department, consisting of four skilled and passionate lawyers, and you will report to our Vice President and Head of Legal, Steven Turkington-Hansen.
Responsibilities
Clinical Operations

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensuring clinical trials adhere to regulations from agencies like the FDA and EMA.
  • Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs):
    Drafting and negotiating agreements with research institutions and CROs, covering study conduct and data handling.
  • Patient Consent and Data Privacy:
    Ensuring informed consent forms and data handling comply with legal and ethical standards.
  • Investigator Agreements:
    Managing agreements with principal investigators regarding responsibilities and compensation.
  • Risk Management:
    Identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with clinical trials, including adverse events.


Contract Handling

  • Drafting and Negotiating Contracts:
    Creating and negotiating various contracts with CROs, vendors, and service providers to protect company interests.
  • Contract Management:
    Tracking and managing contracts to ensure compliance and meet key deadlines.
  • Collaboration Agreements:
    Drafting agreements for research partnerships, defining roles and IP rights.
  • Vendor Agreements:
    Handling agreements with vendors for essential services and products, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Confidentiality Agreements (NDAs):
    Protecting proprietary information through NDAs before sharing with external parties.
  • Licensing Agreements:
    Negotiating licenses for technologies or compounds, clearly defining use and IP rights.


In summary, our new colleague will help ensure that clinical operations and contract handling are legally compliant, risk-managed, and efficiently executed, supporting our R&
D and business goals.
Candidate profile
We imagine that you bring a master's degree in law and some years of experience from life science or other regulated industry. Furthermore, we hope that you can tick as many as the following boxes:

  • Proven track record in handling clinical trial agreements, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiation.
  • Regulatory Knowledge:
    In-depth understanding of FDA, EMA, ICH guidelines, and data privacy laws (e.G., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills for various contracts. Excellent risk management and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of integrity and ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • A team player with a can-do-attitude and the ability to navigate at all levels in the organization.


This candidate will ensure legal compliance, manage risks, and support the company’s clinical operations and contractual needs effectively.
