In Maersk Air Cargo, we have vast experience as an air cargo and ACMI operator, currently operating and managing a fleet consisting of +/-20 Boeing freighters with bases in Cologne and Leipzig, Germany, and Billund, Denmark. The fleet of aircraft will soon be expanded with two Boeing 777 freighters to support our long-haul operation.

The Regulatory Affairs Manager in Maersk Air Cargo is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of public affairs, regulatory compliance, and political engagement related to air cargo operations. The role aims to ensure an active approach to navigating regulations, political dynamics, and environmental legislation, while fostering positive relationships with external stakeholders to promote the organization's interests in the aviation industry globally.

This role will play a crucial part in ensuring our airline adheres to all applicable regulations as well as standards set forth by aviation authorities and governmental agencies globally.

This position will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant aviation authorities, including but not limited to those issued by EASA, ICAO, the DK Civil Aviation Authority, and other pertinent regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory strategy, analysis and monitoring:
    Monitor, assess, interpret and identify regulations, policies, and legislation impacting our air operations as well as identify areas for improvement. Develop strategies to actively address regulatory challenges. Stay updated on upcoming legislation and regulatory changes in the airline and air cargo industry. Analyse the potential impact of such changes and develop action plans to address them effectively – ensuring alignment with functional heads in Maersk Air Cargo.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management:
    Build and maintain strong relationships as our primary point of contact for key external industry stakeholders, including government officials, regulatory agencies, airline committees, associations, and community groups to promote understanding and alignment on the organization's goals and initiatives. Representation of Maersk Air Cargo in discussions regarding traffics rights with the CAA’s where we hold an AOC ( currently DK &
    UK ) as well as IATA and ICAO representation.
  • Risk Management:
    Identify potential regulatory risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Stay informed about changes in regulations and industry trends that may impact cargo airline operations.
  • Strategic Communication:
    Develop and execute communication strategies to convey the organization's positions on regulatory and political matters to both internal stakeholder and political stakeholders. This includes preparing materials, presentations, and briefings.
  • Crisis Management:
    Collaborate with relevant teams to manage crisis situations related to public affairs and regulatory issues. Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures to ensure effective response to regulatory emergencies or incidents.

What are we looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, International Relations, Law, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Proven experience (min. 8 years) in public affairs, regulatory compliance, or related fields, preferably within airlines or aviation industry.

  • Strong understanding of the regulatory aeronautical landscape.

  • Strong understanding of global regulatory landscapes, political dynamics, and environmental legislation affecting airlines and air cargo operations.

  • Excellent knowledge of concessions, security issues, and climate/environmental regulations.

  • Proficiency in analysing and interpreting complex legal and regulatory documents.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.

  • Good to be fluent in a Scandinavian language.
