Associate Professor or DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity – DTU Compute

We are looking for an assistant/associate professor to extend and complement research and teaching at the Cybersecurity Engineering Section at DTU Compute, Technical University of Denmark. Responsibilities and qualifications
Your focus will be to strengthen our research and education withincybersecurity, which currently includes critical infrastructure security, distributed system security, Cloud and Fog computing security, IoT security, malware and intrusion detection,emerging technologies (e.G., AI and blockchain),novel detection theory (e.G., deception and collaborative threat detection algorithms), human aspects of security (incl. cyber-psychology and sociological factors), cyber-defense, privacy and privacy enhancing technologies, cryptography, post-quantum security.
We are currently involved in a number of externally funded projects, and we expect that you will actively seek to attract funding from private and public sources, including both national and international research funding agencies.
As a part of your key responsibilities, you will:

  • Publish impactful work in leading journals and conferences in your field
  • Teach, guide, and supervise BSc and MSc student projects, as well as supervise PhD students
  • Actively participate in creating a robust and vibrant environment within the Cybersecurity Engineering section
  • Secure funding for your research area from both Denmark and the European Union

You will get an active role in shaping the Cybersecurity Engineering sectionprofile within the four pillars that define our university:
research, education, innovation and public sector advice. Denmark is one of the most digitalized countries in the world, so there are rich opportunities to collaborate with private and public sector organizations with the aim to build a more cybersecure and digitally robust society.
Research areas particularly relevant for this position are (but notnecessarily limited to):

  • Computer security forensics
  • Security and AI (both security of and security using)
  • Malware analysisand penetration testing (ethical hacking)
  • Privacy and privacy enhancing technologies
  • Security engineering
  • Security in pervasive computing systems (incl. cyber physical systems, IoT, mobile healthcare systems and wireless computing systems)
  • Authentication and identity management systems
  • Cybersecurity governance

Candidates with strong expertise in other areas of cybersecurity are also encouraged to apply.
You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages:
Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.DTU educational programs offer a unique wide range of courses coveringseveraltopicsin cybersecurity at different levels (BSc, MSc, continuing education). You will contribute toeducate new generations of engineers, scientists and IT professionals in the foundations, principles and state-of-the-art methods and technologies in cybersecurity.You will be responsible for the teaching of courses according to your research interests and Department’s needs.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.
You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

  • Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
  • Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills

The following qualifications are a plus:

  • Demonstrated ability to attract funding
  • Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses both undergraduate and graduate
  • Strong publication record and impact in top venues
  • Documented experience in continuing education

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
Starting date is 1 October 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
