Group Environmental Impact Specialist – impact all stages of production

Do you want a global role that leads our efforts to continually reduce our environmental footprint? And are you keen to work with a dedicated team of compliance experts?

Embark on a mission with us to enhance and deepen ECCO's commitment to environmental, social, and governance principles, making a substantial and positive difference in our environmental footprint throughout our tanneries, production facilities, and retail outlets.

You are our expert on environmental impact. With control over every stage of production, this is a rare chance to make a difference across the whole process. We are very passionate about our own footprint, as we craft and export the footprints of tomorrow,"
says VP Pia Yasuko Rask.

Setting the global environmental standards

At our headquarters in Tønder, you will join a team of four product compliance colleagues, with one based in Portugal. Together, you spearhead ECCO’s compliance efforts.

You will collaborate with our Group health and safety specialist to orchestrate the implementation of standards and training, especially at our tanneries and factories. This means directing ECCO’s Environmental policy and standards, setting the overall course and measuring environmental impacts reliably and precisely, following industry best-practice.

Acting as our internal go-to-specialist, you will focus on:

  1. Evaluating and reducing environmental impacts along the value chain
  2. Developing and maintaining global policies, guidelines and standards for ECCO to grow sustainably and improve continuously
  3. Developing and maintaining key environmental performance indicators, including the development of progress dashboards
  4. Driving and collaborating with the data-teams to quantify and track the environmental impacts throughout the value chain, including energy use, water use, wastewater, and waste generation
  5. Identifying and maintaining an environmental risk register and mitigation plan

Working on a global scale, supporting and empowering local sites, this role will take you travelling approximately 30 days a year.

Collaborative mindset and environmental know-how

You have profound knowledge of the intricate effects of environmental issues in the industry. With your solid collaboration skills, you work constructively with colleagues across the business, using the matrix structure to implement global standards, leverage internal insights, and utilise synergies by creating a network of experts within ECCO.

You are a cooperative team member who can combine your meticulousness with a sense of perspective, take reasonable risks when needed, and plan a gradual path to compliance.

Furthermore, you probably have a background that includes:

  1. A relevant bachelor’s degree, for example in environmental engineering, law or similar
  2. At least 5 years of experience in environmental compliance in manufacturing
  3. Experience with global environmental management systems and ISO-standards
  4. Ideally, audit experience within the area of environmental processes

Are you ready for your next challenge?

We invite candidates for interviews on an ongoing basis, so do not hesitate to apply.
