Are you a strategic communicator motivated by change and relationship-building in a global environment?
As Governmental Public Affairs &
Communications Head
at Merck, you will be responsible for securing and sustaining optimal strategic engagement plans and building coalitions with external stakeholders.

With direct report to the General Manager, you will play a key role in shaping Merck’s relationships with government entities and managing public policy matters and communication in Denmark. The primary responsibilities include monitoring and analysing legislative and regulatory developments, as well as engaging with government officials and policymakers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing the Governmental Public Affairs &
    Communications strategyand action plan.
  • Driving Merck to be a relevant partner and member of the community amongst external stakeholder groups.
  • Implementing company communication strategy by HQ guidance.
  • Supporting the external impact of the General Manager and Medical Director on shaping business-critical policy.
  • Supporting overall commercialisation by giving input to the local Medical and Marketing Strategy and activities.
  • Being accountable for adapting and/or developing the brands’ value propositions in line with HQ guidance and communicating this to the target Danish Payor and Policy stakeholders.
  • Being an advisor and relevant Payor and Healthcare policy environment member.

The preferred candidate has a minimum of ten years of experience in commercialising and a decade of experience in Governmental Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, or External Affairs within Nordic affiliates. Moreover, you are driven by the opportunity to foster new external partnerships and are widely recognised for your proficiency in implementing communication plans.

You hold a master’s degree and are fluent in Danish and English, both written and verbal. Moreover, you possess strong communication, advocacy, and negotiation skills and have an innovative team-oriented mindset.
